Leonard “Lenny” Volkman, 69, of Rushford, died on Thursday, May 17, 2012, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn.
Lenny was born on March 26, 1943, in Rushford to Edward and Ellen (Bartleson) Volkman. He was raised in Rushford and graduated from Rushford High School in 1961. In December of 1960, he married Beverly Stensgard. They were later divorced. On April 4, 1970, Lenny married Pat Rollins at Rushford Lutheran Church. Lenny and Pat ran the Volkman Motel in Rushford for 17 years. Lenny was also an over-the-road truck driver for all of his career. He retired from Fil-more Trucking Company in 2008. In his spare time, Lenny enjoyed fishing, woodworking and traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Pat; three children: Lowell (Alecia) Volkman of Rushford, LeeAnn (Steve) Tufte of Oskaloosa, Kansas and Amanda (Kevin) Fenske of Rushford; eight grandchildren: Amber, Leigh, Tiffany, Bridgette, David, Garret, Owen and Abagail; six great-grandchildren: Damon, Landon, Lauren, Hannah, Reyna and Rowan; two sisters: Shirley (Richard) Anderson of Lewiston, Minn. and Juanita (Les) Ladewig of Rushford; and by many nieces and nephews.
Lenny was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral service was on Monday, May 21, 2012, at Rushford Lutheran Church with the Rev. Roger Michaelson officiating. Burial was in the Rushford Lutheran Cemetery. Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service in Rushford handled arrangements.
