On Thursday evening, April 26, 2012, the annual “Dining Out for Life” fundraiser, which supports 1,800 HIV-positive Minnesotans each year via The Aliveness Project and Rural AIDS Action Network, was held at a number of restaurants throughout Minnesota, including Lanesboro’s Old Village Hall Restaurant and Pub.

The Aliveness Project and Rural AIDS Action Network provide food shelf services and onsite meals, HIV testing, holiday baskets, nutritional counseling, and outreach throughout Minnesota.

A platinum level sponsor of the event, the Old Village Hall’s patrons, owners and staff contributed $912.04 to support the cause. It was the only restaurant in southeast Minnesota to support the event.

Nick Gudmundson, ambassador for the restaurant, commented, “It was a great way to have fun and give to a worthy cause. Because of the generosity of those who attended, and the Old Village Hall, our reach will extend statewide.”

Local business owners in attendance, including Liz Bucheit of Lanesboro’s Crown Trout Jewelers’ commented, “We loved the event! The combination of fabulous food coupled with raising funds for Aids Awareness made for a great night and a worthwhile cause. We were honored to attend!”

Dr. Linda Sifford and Dr. Tom Sautter, owners of Root River Veterinary Center in Preston, had this to say: “We enjoyed dining at the Old Village Hall at their Rural AIDS Action Network Dining Out for Life event. The food was spectacular, generous and delicious and included morel mushrooms in many of the dishes. Tom had the elk which was cooked perfectly. Of course, we always have to leave room for dessert. It is the best part of the meal. Good Job Old Village Hall staff and chef.”

The Old Village Hall Restaurant wants to thank its patrons, staff and volunteers who assisted with and contributed to the “Dining Out for Life” event and looks forward to future participation.
