Thelma M. Kohn, age 79, of Preston, died Friday, May 11, 2012, in Preston.
Thelma was born May 29, 1932, in Holt Township, Fillmore Co., Minn., the daughter of Nelius E. and Randi M.(Johnson) Torgerson. She was a 1952 graduate of Preston High School. She married Donald L. Kohn October 5, 1963, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lanesboro. The couple farmed in rural Spring Valley until 1978, farmed in rural Lanesboro until 1986 and then farmed in Carimona until moving into Preston in 1990. She was a farm homemaker.
Thelma loved animals especially her cats. She also enjoyed phone calls with her sisters to keep in touch.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Donald; six nephews, Gary (Vickie) Skartland of Kiester, Minn., Jerry (Mitsuko) Ihrke of Moreno Valley, Calif., Duane Ihrke of Wabasha, Minn., Daniel (Sharon) Ihrke of St. Charles, Minn., Robert Jr. (Sandy) Ihrke of Dover, Minn., and Carl Ihrke of Plainview, Minn. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Clifforde, Ernest and Arnold; and three sisters, Ruby Ihrke, Clenora Skartland and Marion Torgerson.
The funeral was Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at Christ Lutheran Church in Preston with Rev. Dave Jore officiating. Burial was in the Lanesboro Cemetery.
Thauwald Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
