Nineteen FFA chapters from across the state were recognized at the first general session of the 83rd Minnesota FFA Convention at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities for their efforts to increase agricultural literacy in their communities.
FFA Chapters recognized were:
Climax, Fulda, GFW-Pioneer Express, Herman Norcross, Le Center
Red Wing, Redwood Valley, Spring Valley Wykoff, Sprinfield, Cedar Mountain, Chaska, Foley, Forest Lake, New London Spicer, Norman County West, Sauk Raped Rice, Hutchinson, Morris and Sleepy Eye.
Top chapter will be announced at the fourth general session on Tuesday. Redwood Valley was awarded the most unique activity and Forest Lake was recognized for reaching the most people.
The 2011-2012 Minnesota FFA State Officer team challenged chapters throughout the year to conduct agricultural literacy programs. Chapters were encouraged to log their hours and activities to participate in the competition against other chapters throughout the state.
The 83rd Minnesota FFA Convention was held April 22-24 in St. Paul and drew 3,000-plus FFA members, advisors and guests from across the state. The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
