Dorothy A. Colbenson, 88, of Rushford, Minn. died on Thursday, April 19, 2012, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford.
Dorothy was born on July 6, 1923, in Rushford to Henry H. and Amelia (Marcum) Kleist. She was raised in Rushford and attended the Hart Country School. On October 14, 1942, she married Carroll O. Colbenson in Rushford. Dorothy and Carroll farmed in the Hart area for 38 years, retiring to Rushford in 1978. In her spare time Dorothy enjoyed bowling, playing cards(especially with her grandson, Dean), sewing, crocheting, jigsaw puzzles, but most of all spending time visiting with friends and family.
Dorothy is survived by her six children: Garry (Geri) Colbenson of Forest Lake, Minn., G. Michael (Beverly) Colbenson of Rushford, Lana (Jim) Overland of Rushford, Calvin (Dana) Colbenson of Memphis, Tenn., Lori Wallace of Guttenberg, Iowa and Kyle (Angela) Colbenson of Rushford; 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers, four sisters and one grandson.
The funeral service was held Monday, April 23, 2012, at Rushford Lutheran Church with the Rev. Roger Michaelson officiating. Burial was in the Rushford Lutheran Cemetery.
Dorothy’s family prefers memorials to be directed to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home.
