The National Trout Center, located in Preston, MN will once again open its doors the first weekend in April, just in time for the 2012 state wide Trout Season Opener on April 14th.
National Trout Center (NTC) programs in April include: “Adopt A River Cleanup” on the South Branch of the Root River (April 21, 10am-noon), “Learn to Trout Fish” Root River Program Series (April 22, 1-3pm), and “Root River Earth Day Celebration” (April 28, 10am-2pm). For a complete listing of 2012 program events visit: www.nationaltroutcenter.org or call: 507-765-4700 for registration information.
The National Trout Center provides hands-on activities to engage the public in awareness of the environment and cold-water fishery resources of the driftless region and the arts and crafts related to trout fishing. The center offers field trips by appointment for individuals, families, and groups to study a variety of topics: trout biology, trout habitat, water sampling, hydrology, limnology, geology, cold-water ecology, and much more.
In addition, we offer clinics and workshops on: Introductory Fishing Basics, Fly-casting Techniques, Knot-Tying, Fly-Tying, Leader Fabrication, and Streamside Fishing Techniques. Special events include lectures, art exhibits, book signings, educational exhibits, and other activities of interest to fishers, residents, and visitors to the driftless area. The NTC also hosts guided fishing trips for half or full-day excursions.
The National Trout Center is your “Go To Place” for “All Things Trout.” Come visit and participate in our 2012 programs. The NTC is located at 120 St. Anthony Street, Preston, MN and open April – October, Thursday – Saturday from 10am-4pm.
