Second Annual Girl’s All-County Basketball Team
1st Team:
•Kenzie Lind, 5’10” Sr. G/F Rushford-Peterson. Surpassed 1,000 career points. Recorded a quadruple double. The Trojans heart-and-soul, Ms. Versatility, Lind led R-P to a 1A East runner-up (12.3 pts, 9.3 rebs, 4.0 stls, and 4.3 assists). She scored 20 or more five times and notched nine double-doubles (10 if you count the quadruple double as two double doubles!). All-Conference.
•MaKenzie Miller, 6’1” Jr. C Chatfield. Stepped into starting rotation, thrived as offensive focal point. Led team in scoring (nearly 13 per) second in rebounding (over 6 per). Scored in double figures in 24 of 29 games. The Gopher inside attack didn’t miss a beat with her wo-manning the middle. All-Conference.
•Sarah Costello, 5’8” Sr. F/G Chatfield. Hard-working versatile leader for the Section runner-up Gophers. Finished second on team in scoring (nearly 10 per game), assists, and steals, first in rebounding (over 7 per game). The Gopher version of R-P’s Lind, or Ms. Multi-Dimensional. All-Conference.
•Alex Peterson, 5’11” Sr. C Fillmore Central. Though the focal point of opponent’s D’s; still averaged almost 13 PPG, almost 8 RPG, all amidst a shortened scheduled and a rough team year. In the record books; her 13 of 13 shooting night against Houston in February of 2011 is the 4th most efficient performance ever in MN girls b-ball history. Honorable Mention A-C
•Cheyenne Losey, 5’10” Jr. G/F, Kingsland. Had a 28-point, 11-rebound game, and a 30-point, 11-rebound game versus Lourdes and R-P respectively. Led Knights in scoring (11-plus per game) and rebounding (7-plus per game), all while her and her teammates dealt with the losses of two coaches. All Conference.
2nd Team:
•Amy Todd, 5’9” Jr F R-P. Did something special during season; bested teammate Lind at a statistical category! Todd’s 13-plus PPG led the Trojans; her 8-plus RPG was second on the squad. Amy notched six double-doubles, four in her last seven games. Honorable Mention A-C.
•MaKayla Pruter, 5’1” Sr. G Kingsland. Led by example for the Knights, doing more of the little things (than scoring), fighting fearlessly against murders row of talented G’s in Three Rivers (Kalmes, Schammel, Pease, Winjim). Averaged 6 points, but 5 assists per game. Honorable Mention A-C.
•Morgan Malley (5’6” Fr. G Fillmore Central). Burst on the seen in 2011 as FC’s main ball-handler and best outside shooter. Hit 7 3’s against R-P. Was second on team in scoring at 11 PPG.
•Paige Hungerholt (6’0” Sr. F Lanesboro). Did everything for the Burros. Averaged nearly 13 points, 7-plus rebounds, 3-plus steals, 2-plus blocks and 2-plus assists per game. Had a season high 27 versus FC. All-SEC.
•Christy Welscher (5’10” Jr. C Mabel-Canton). Offensive rebounding abilities was Cougar’s best offensive weapon at times. Had 10 double-digit scoring games and 11 double-digit rebounding games. All-SEC.

Second Annual Boy’s All-County B-Ball Team
1st Team:
•Nick Thompson (6’4” Sr. F, R-P). 20-plus PPG. Shot nearly 50% from 3-point range. Scored an R-P record 43 versus L-A. Surpassed 1,000-career points. Made All-Conference (for second time). Co-led team to state and a third place finish. Made All-Tournament team. Was heralded by his 500-plus win coach, as ‘probably the best pure shooter I’ve ever coached.’ It’s easy to see why Nick heads the cast.
•Steve Smith (6’3” Sr. C Mabel-Canton). 19.9 PPG. 12-plus RPG. Made All-Conference for second time. Surpassed 1,000-points. Became schools all-time leading rebounder. Surpassed every other scorer, boys and girls, in M-C history. Easy to see why big Steve Smith is on this list.
•Tanner Lange (6’1” Sr G Kingsland). The only new addition to the first team; moved up from second team last year. Led his team to a Sub-Section final. Surpassed 1,000-career points. Made All-Conference for a second time. Checks in at #3 because he and Sam Eberle were a truly potent backcourt duo. Lange’s ability to score, handle the ball, and lead the team was very special.
•Braden Hanson (6’2” Sr G Lanesboro). Led SEC in scoring at 21.9/game. Made All-Conference (for a third time). Topped 1,000 career points. Surpassed every other male Burro scorer, becoming Lanesboro’s all-time leader. Did so by scoring 47 (another school record) in a game. It’s just too easy to select players like this.
•Trent Vix (5’9” Sr G R-P). The only player on the 1st team not to surpass 1,000-points (was close). Guided R-P’s state 3rd place attack from the PG position. Ability to drop big games and a lot of three’s (6 or more fives times) made the Trojans a two-headed monster few teams could decapitate. Just as good as the 1,000-point scorers above him. Two-time All-Conference.
2nd Team:
•Sam Eberle (6’0” Sr G Kingsland). Forte was defense (quick hands); had the 9th best steals season in Minnesota state HS basketball history. Could also score from a variety of places. A critical multi-dimensional cog in the 2011-2012 Knight attack. All-Conference.
•Spencer Klevan (6’3” Sr C Kingsland). Mid-range/high-post game gave the Knights a unique weapon that made them all the more potent. Lived from 6-10 feet away, but also could dominate boards. All-Conference.
•Nate Skare (6’1” So. G Chatfield). Turned around (after playing some as a freshmen) and led Gophers in scoring as a soph. A great shooter; maroon and white fans we’ll get two more years of Nate (and his classmates). Helped Gophers notch a win over state champion PEM. All-Conference.
•Devin Pokorney (6’3” Sr. F Kingsland). Fourth Knight player gets nod because the three other than Lange all averaged about the same per game scoring, and the seniors were a very talented crew. Devin had both inside and outside ability, notching big games versus R-P (24), Caledonia (26), and Pine Island (21).
•Tyler Eickhoff (5’10” Sr G Fillmore Central). Scoring wasn’t super-consistent, but could simply make shots. Led Falcons in scoring, notching big games versus Caledonia twice (22, 23), Spring Grove in play-offs (23) and Chatfield (20).
