Power outage in Preston

Thursday, March 29, 2012, around 11:16 am, many people in Preston were left without electrical power for almost an hour. City employees believe the power outage was caused by the failure of a lighting arrestor at the south substation. This led to an over current condition, which caused the fuses to blow at the substation.
The Preston Public Utility crews switched the electrical feeders on the south side over to the north substation. The south substation is still being investigated to find the cause of the problem.
Everyone had electricity restored by 12:05 pm.
