Three young people from Fillmore County recently attended the 2010 Red, White and You Conference sponsored by the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation with support from the CHS Foundation. The conference was held at Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peter, MN, June 28-30.

Participants heard presentations from motivational speaker Rick Metzger; from Amanda Nolz, writer for BEEF Daily, who presented "Stand Up, Speak Out, Tell Your Agriculture Story;" and from Mark Enniga with the National Guard on "Serving our Country." The conference focused on positive attitudes, patriotism, diversity and rights as a citizen.

"The purpose of this conference is to emphasize the freedoms enjoyed by Americans - many we often take for granted," said Fillmore County Farm Bureau President Jeff Eickhoff. "We believe it is important that our young leaders take time to recognize some of the benefits and priveleges that we have."

A long-standing tradition of the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation, Red, White and You is a teen leadership conference that focuses on the importance of democracy and the rights and responsibilities associated with freedom. Over 110 students from across the state attended this year's program which was open to any student in grades 8-10.
