Paul C. Denny, 78 of Chatfield, died Monday (Feb. 6, 2012) from complications of a lengthy illness with multiple sclerois at Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield, where he had been a resident since 2006.
Paul Carlton Denny was born Jan. 7, 1934, in Chatfield to Carlton and Ellen(Henriksen) Denny. He grew up on the family farm, attended country school and Chatfield H.S., graduating in 1951. He served in the U.S. Army, including duty overseas in Germany. Paul was married on Sept. 21, 1954, at the Pioneer Presbyterian Church in Chatfield to Marilyn Jean Nietz. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Germany until Mr. Denny’s discharge in 1956. They moved to Chatfield, and in 1967 moved to rural Chatfield where they made their home, raised their daughters and lived until 2006. Mr. Denny was a life-long electrician employed at Kuntz and Teigen Electric in Stewartville for a number of years. He established Paul Denny Electric in 1980 and with his wife Marilyn handling the book-keeping, they operated their business until 1995, when his health brought on early retirement. Mrs. Denny died on March 23, 2006. Mr. Denny was a past active member of the Chatfield United Methodist Church and was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 22 in Pleasant Grove,Mn. He also was a member of the Chatfield American Legion Post 197 and the National Electricial Benefit Fund. Paul enjoyed riding motorcycle, taveling and drives in the country with Marilyn, following the Minnesota Twins, going to coffee, visiting and time spent with family, especially his grandchidren.
Survivors include his daughters Debra(John) Ward of Byron, Minn. and Lynee(Brian) Montgomery of Rochester, Minn.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his sister Judy(Dr. Fred) Roberson of Zumbrota, Minn.; and brother Jack(Debra) Denny of Chatfield, Minn. He was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn and his parents.
The funeral service for Paul C. Denny, 78, of Chatfield, Minn. was on Friday (Feb. 10, 2012) at Griffin-Gray F.H. in Stewartville with Rev. Amanda Larson officiating. Burial was in Orion Center Cemetery in rural Chatfield, Minn. Arrangements were with Griffin-Gray F.H. in Stewartville.
