Ilene Mildred Anderson, 89, of Chatfield, died Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Ilene Mildred Soiney was born May 16, 1923, in Harmony, to Lawrence Soiney and Matilda (Jacobson) Soiney. She attended Harmony and Whalan Schools. She married Ervin O. Anderson in 1943 in Whalan. Ervin passed away in 1968. Ilene was a nurses aide at the Lanesboro and Preston Care Centers. She worked at Saint Marys Hospital as a housekeeper and dietary aide, and cleaned houses for Doctors in Rochester for many years.
Ilene was a member of Whalan Lutheran Church and the Erickson-Rose Legion Auxiliary Post 637. She enjoyed spending time with her family, making mission quilts and day trips with friends.
She is survived by four daughters, Carole Johnson of Chatfield, Linda (Larry) Wrolstad of Kenyon, Donna (Francis) Novotny of Chatfield and Cindy (Ole) Bothun of Chatfield; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Bette (Milton) Eide of Rushford.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin, a daughter, Sharon, three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 7, 2012, at the Whalan Lutheran Church, in Whalan, with Rev. Patricia Hinkie officiating. Burial was in the Whalan Cemetery.
Everyone who came in contact with Ilene loved her. She has left a legacy of wonderful memories for her family and friends.
Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield was in charge of arrangements.
