Verna Mack, age 93 of Lanesboro, died on January 30, 2012, at the Tweeten Lutheran Health Care Center in Spring Grove where she had resided for 13 years.
Verna Elida Olson was born on October 13, 1918, in LaCrosse, Wisconsin to Theodore and Leda (Fortner) Olson. She attended Houston public school in Houston, Minnesota. On January 7, 1941, she married Vern Mack in Granite Falls, MN.
Verna worked as a waitress in Jack’s Café and White Front Café in Lanesboro and was a cook and caregiver in the Preston Nursing Home. She belonged to a Women’s Group and Happy Hour Club, enjoyed playing cards, bowling, spending time with her family and friends, and cooking for the hunters who stayed with them.
She is survivored by two sons; Weston (Karen) Mack of Viroqua, Wisconsin; Dean (Trina) Mack of Rochester, Minn.; one daughter, Sheila Wilson of Spring Grove, Minn.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Vern; son-in-law David Wilson, and grandson, Douglas Wilson.
The funeral for Verna Mack was on Thursday, February 2, 2012, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Rev. Kerry Eversole officiating. Burial was in the Lanesboro Cemetery following the service. Johnson-Riley Funeral Home of Lanesboro handled the arrangements.
