Allene Bendickson, 83, of Spring Valley, formerly of the LeRoy area, died Saturday evening en route to a hospital.
Allene F. Terbeest was born May 9, 1916, in rural Fillmore County, and attended Cherry Grove-area rural schools. In 1935, she married Burton Austin; he died in 1952. She married Axel H. Bendickson in 1955 and he survives. Mrs. Bendickson was a veterinary assistant for many years and also sold real estate in the LeRoy area. She was a member of LeRoy Evangelical Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school for a number of years.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, James (Ada) Austin of Harmony; a daughter, Meredith Foster of Spring Valley; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and three step-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, three sisters and a grandson.
The funeral for Mrs. Bendickson was held Wednesday, April 19, 2000 at LeRoy Evangelical Lutheran Church, with the Re. Thomas Kolden officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Hindt-Hutchins Funeral Home in Spring Valley was in charge of arrangements.
