Ceona H. Schibursky, 90, of Preston, retired co-owner of Schibursky Shoe Store, died Monday, May 1, 2000 at Preston Good Samaritan Care Center.
Ceona H. Becker was born July 18, 1909, in LaCrescent the daughter of Albert M. and Ida L. (Betz) Becker. She attended Pepper Valley country school and St. Peter’s Catholic School in Hokah. On October 12, 1932, she married Arthur Schibursky at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Hokah and they resided in Preston. Her husband died in 1978. She was co-owner of Schibursky Shoe Store until her retirement and then worked part time at Libby’s in Rochester and also at Spring Valley Cleaners. Mrs. Schibursky was a member of St. Columban Catholic Church, Catholic Church Women, Preston Garden Club and Senior Citizens. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed gardening, trout fishing, horseback riding, crocheting, knitting, needlepoint and quilting.
Survivors include a son, Roger (Mary) of Preston; three grandchildren Tami (Al) Boysen of Rochester, Tara (Robert) Ibarra of Preston, and Michael Schibursky of Henderson, NV; a step-grandson Lance Growden of Chatfield; three great-grandchildren Chandler Wilson, Brady Boysen and Ethan Ibarra; two brothers, Herbert M. Becker of LaCrescent and Romeo “Joe” of Hokah; and three sisters, Bernice Graham of Chicago, Mary Jane Patterson of LaCrosse, and Alma Dutkovich of Onalaska, WI. Three brothers preceded her in death.
A funeral Mass for Ceona H. Schibursky was held Thursday, May 4, 2000 at St. Columban Catholic Church in Preston with the Rev. Thomas Loomis officiating. Burial was in the Crown Hill Cemetery in Preston. Thauwald Funeral Home in Preston was in charge of arrangements.
