Jack Keeler, 68, of Rushford, a retired Tri-County Electric employee, died of cancer Wednesday, May 3, 2000 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford.
He was born August 31, 1931, in Winona. From 19 to 1953, he served in the Army with two tours during the Korean War and received the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart and 10 additional service medals. On September 18, 1954, he married Mary Nowlan of Rushford. Mr. Keeler worked for Tri-County Electric in Rushford for 38 years and retired in March 1994. He was an active member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and a member of VFW Post 5905, American Legion Post 94 of Rushford, Disabled American Veterans and U.S. Airborne Static Line Club. His interests included skydiving.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Robin (Gary) Bartelson of Grand Forks, ND; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his mother, Clara (Zimmerman) Keeler of Winona. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother.
The funeral for Mr. Keeler was held Monday, May 8th at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Rushford with the Revs. Armin Dye and William Mueller officiating. Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Winona. Hoff Funeral Homes-Cook Rushford Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
