Harvey Lammers, 74, of Chester died Tuesday, May 23, 2000 at his home of natural causes.
He was born August 14, 1925 in Lime Springs, IA, the son of Charles and Mary (Mauderer) Lammers. He married Barbara Krakliow on August 9, 1947 in Burlington, IA. Harvey farmed for many years in rural Lime Springs and Chester areas. After farming, Harvey owned and operated the Wheel Inn in Chester for 23 years. He retired in 1993. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling and spent two winters in Arizona. Harvey enjoyed many activities including spending time with family and friends, fishing, bird watching, being outdoors, playing cards, shooting pool, and being inducted into the Bowling hall of fame. He sponsored and managed softball teams, race cars, bowling and pool teams for many years.
Survivors include his wife Barbara, two sons Curt (Barb) Lammers of Cresco, Larry Lammers of Chester, a daughter Sue Cartney of St. Louis Park, MN; nine grandchildren; a brother Vernie Lammers of Waterloo, IA; and a sister Edna (Fred) Dieken of Lime Springs along with his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Lee and Les; three sisters Eileen, Ella and Elsie; and a son-in-law Mike Cartney.
Services for Mr. Lammers were held at the Chester United Methodist Church on Friday, May 26, 2000 with burial in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Lime Springs. Rev. Robert Holdorf officiated. Lindstrom Funeral Home in Chester was in charge of arrangements.
