Thomas Forthun, 77, of Rochester, formerly of the Preston area, died Tuesday morning, May 23, 2000, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester following a short illness.
He was born March 2, 1923, in Fountain Township, Fillmore County, the son of John and Hazel (Kemple) Forthun. He farmed in rural Preston until his retirement in the early 1970’s. He then made his home in Alma, WI, and later moved to Rochester.
He is survived by one sister, Leone Serum of Alma, WI; fourteen nieces and nephews; 32 greatnieces and nephews; and four great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral for Mr. Forthun was held Saturday, May 27, 2000 at the Thauwald Funeral Home in Preston with the Rev. Anthony Fink officiating. His body was cremated and burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. Thauwald Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
