Elmer Lange, 79, of Harmony, a retired farm worker and truck driver, died of cancer Saturday, June 3, 2000, at his home.
He was born March 15, 1921, on the family farm in Fillmore County and attended area schools. On May 30, 1945, he married Marguerite Hovey at Big Spring Lutheran Church and they lived in Fillmore County all their married lives. He drove construction equipment for Kraling and Anderson quarries, worked for Rochester Dairy in Harmony, owned a can-milk route, drove gas transport for Bergey Co., and, in the years before his retirement, worked for his brother on a farm. Mr. Lange was a lifelong member of Big Springs Lutheran Church and held a private pilot’s license.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Romona (Rodney) Grooters of Raleigh, ND; two granddaughters; two brothers, Manley and Manford, both of Harmony, and three sisters, Viola (George) Klomp of Stewartville, Annabelle Kvam of Harmony and Dolly (Arlyn) Mensink of Goodhue.
The funeral for Mr. Lange was held Tuesday, June 6, 2000 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Big Spring with the Rev. Keith Parker officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Lindstrom Funeral Home in Harmony was in charge of arrangements.
