Lake Louise State Park is located in southeastern Minnesota near the Iowa border. The park is located in Mower County, 1 1/2 miles north of LeRoy on County Road 14, State Highway map index: L-21.
Lake Louise State Park is often referred to as an "oasis" in rich farmland of southeastern Minnesota. Many species of wildlife are attracted by the diverse habitat of hardwood forest and old field areas found in the park.
The 1,168 acre park contains two spring-fed streams which join in the park to form the Iowa River, a dam and impoundment where a grist mill was located in the late 1800's, and scattered stands of hardwoods which are remnants of a larger forest.
The Pickwick Mill, which is on the national and state registry of historic places, is a must stop for those interested in the history of our agricultural and industrial past. The mill is also an excellent display of the craftsmanship of stone masons, carpenters and amateur engineers.
The Mill is easily accessible from Highway 61 or from Interstate 90 and is open weekends beginning in May.
