Ruth Thompson, 83, of Chatfield, a homemaker, died Sat-urday morning, June 10, 2000 at Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield where she had resided since December 20, 1999.

Ruth Anderson was born July 2, 1916, in rural Fountain and attended Rice Creek Grade School in the area. She moved to Chatfield and on January 16, 1942, she married Palmer Thompson at the North Prairie Lutheran Church parsonage. For a number of years she worked at Pantry Grocery, which was owned by her brother. A member of Chatfield Lutheran Church, she belonged to its ladies aid and circle and taught Sunday school. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, was on a bowling league and volunteered with Meals on Wheels.

Survivors include her hus-band; a son, Donald (Beth) of Michigan City, IN; a daughter, Darlene (William) Daniels of Stewartville; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and a brother, Milo (Florence) Anderson of Rochester. She was preceded in death by a brother, a sister, a half sister and a half brother.

The funeral for Mrs. Thomp-son was held Tuesday, June 13, 2000 at the Chatfield Lutheran Church with the Rev. Chris Finsand officiating. Burial was in the Pilot Mound Lutheran Cemetery in rural Chatfield. Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield was in charge of arrangements.
