Richard Strike, 75, of LeRoy, a longtime area farmer, died Saturday, June 10, 2000 en route to Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Born December 8, 1924, in Kasson, he attended area rural schools through the eighth grade and served with the Marines 2nd Division in the South Pacific during World War II. On September, 19, 1946, he married Esther Johnson at East St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Rock Dell and they farmed in the area most of their married lives. He enjoyed working with and training horses.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, David (Nancy) of Caledonia and Steve of Wykoff; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Two sisters and a brother preceded him in death.
The funeral for Mr. Strike was held Tuesday, June 13, 2000, at LeRoy Evangelical Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Thomas Kolden officiating. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery in Kasson with military graveside rites by American Legion Post 333. Hindt-Hutchins Funeral Home in LeRoy was in charge of arrangements.
