Thank you Lanesboro Art Council for reviving "Art in the Park" family fun day. Good to see so much local involvement - demonstrations, food stands, entertainment. Looking forward to 2001.

I would personally like to thank all the wonderful volunteers and organizations that made Art In the Park 2000 a success. I would also like to thank the Lanesboro Art Council for all their hard work and organization, and the community of Lanesboro for their input and support. And last but not least, my special thanks goes out to the city of Lanesboro and the park staff for making Sylvan Park so beautiful for our event!

To the Editor,
When the Lanesboro area was faced with putting on two major art events one week apart, I didn't think it was feasible. I gladly admit I was wrong! The Opera on the Farm was a fabulous event and Art in the Park was just plain wonderful. The cohesiveness of rural communities to work together for a common cause that benefits all is truly remarkable. I'm so proud to be a resident of Fillmore County!

To the Editor,
The decision by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) approving the expansion permit requested by a southeastern dairy operation is supported by the Minnesota Milk Producers Association (MMPA). MMPA has worked cooperatively with MPCA and the Minnesota Department of Agriculture when livestock producers meet all of the 7020 feedlot rules and have very little potential for polluting. MMPA will continue to support sound environmental practices. We commend MPCA for their detailed environmental assessment. The livestock industry is economically important to Minnesota. Dairy industry alone generates 2.4 billion dollars and employs 53,696 people. Many businesses, and state and local government, depend on the dairy industry. Dairy is the largest share of the agriculture dollar in Minnesota.

Oh, what a difference it can make when people really get behind a project. This was very obvious at Lanesboro's Art in the Park festival on Sunday, June 18th. We sincerely thank the people of Lanesboro and surrounding area for helping us make this festival the enjoyable day that it has previously been. Of course, the beautiful weather helped, but the hundreds of people who planned, set up, baked, exhibited, demonstrated, performed, monitored, worked at the food stands, and did clean up were the real heroes of the day. A special thanks to the Cub Scouts and their families who had the not-to-pleasant job of garbage control. They did an excellent job. The Lanesboro Arts Council is comprised of many Lanesboro area residents without whom such events would not be possible. The Board of Directors will continue to work for projects that are in the community's best interest and can be enjoyed by everyone. Again, we express our appre-ciation to all. The results were beyond our expectations.
