Bernice Hazel "Bea" Brusse

Bea Brusse, 80, of Harmony, died Friday, June 16, 2000 at her home.
Bernice Hazel Lange was born July 9, 1919 in Granger, attended country school in rural Harmony and then worked on the family farm until her marriage. On November 30, 1939, she married Russell Brusse at Big Springs Lutheran Church in rural Harmony and they lived in the Harmony and Cherry Grove areas. In addition to homemaking, she owned and operated the Cherry Grove Shipping Association, did trucking for Libby’s Canning Corp., managed the Spring Valley American Legion and worked at Denny’s Super Valu in Spring Valley. Mrs. Brusse was a member of Cherry Grove United Methodist Church, its ladies aid and the Spring Valley American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include two sons, Elwood of Austin and Dennis (Peggy) of Preston; two daughters, Marlene Bamlet of Eyota and Kim Brusse of LeRoy; four stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters, Ethel Kiehne of Harmony and Lois (Ernie) Kelley of Silver Bay, MN; and a brother, Allan Lange of Bryan, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother, George Lange and a sister, Irene Kiehne.
The funeral for Mrs. Brusse was held Tuesday, June 20, 2000 at Cherry Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Rader officiating. Burial was in Big Springs Cemetery in rural Harmony. Thauwald Funeral Home in Preston was in charge of arrangements.
