Evalyn Kingsbury, 85, of Rushford, a homemaker, formerly of Harmony, Winona and Whalan, died Thursday, June 22, 2000 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford.

Evalyn Campbell was born October 20, 1914 in Stuart, IA. On March 21, 1941, she married Alvin C. Kingsbury in Manlo, IA. They owned and operated the motel in Harmony from 1948 until it was sold in 1970. Her husband died August 29, 1987. Mrs. Kingsbury graduated from Winona State University in 1973 with a degree in Mathematics. Before moving to Winona in 1992, she had lived in Harmony, Florida, Whalan, Iowa, Raleigh, NC, Texas and Rushford. She attended the Lutheran church for 50 years, was a Sunday school teacher and involved with va-cation Bible school, served as president of the ladies aid, attended church women’s conventions and raised flowers for the church altar. For the past five years, she was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Winona. Also, she had been a Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout den mother, and member of the Garden Club and had volunteered at hospitals and nursing homes. She enjoyed growing flowers, gardening, canning and quilting.

Survivors include four sons, Charles of Rochester, Michael (Karen) of St. Paul, John (LuAnn) of Green Field, SC and Richard of Winona; a daughter, Caroline (Robert) Anfinson of Peterson; eight grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a sister, Katie (Bruce) Shaull of Cedar Rapids, IA. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, two brothers and a sister.

The funeral for Mrs. Kingsbury was held Tuesday, June 27, 2000 at Grace Presbyterian Church in Winona. Burial was in Henrytown Lutheran Church. Hoff Funeral Homes-Burke Winona Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
