Comments
Nancy Jacobson, 61, of Peterson died Wednesday, June 28, 2000, at the St. John’s Regional Health Center in Springfield, MI, following an automobile accident.
She was born on February 15, 1939 in Rushford to Ralph and Grace (Erskine) Hammer of rushford. Shortly after Nancy’s birth, her mother died. From the time she was an infant through her early childhood, she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Charles and Harriet Greethurst in the Freemont area. Her father later married Myrtle Halverson while serving in WW II. After the war, Ralph reunited his family in Rushford. Nancy remained especially close to her Uncle Charles and Aunt Harriet. She graduated from Rushford High School in 1957 and Concordia College, Moorhead, MN in 1962 with a teaching degree. She married Nels Jacobson on October 13, 1967. Since the mid-1970’s she taught at Peterson Elementary School and later, Rushford-Peterson Elementary. Nancy’s interests included making her famous carmels, sewing, needlework, painting landscapes and birds, and spending time with her grandchildren and family. She was a member of Rushford Lutheran Church in Rushford.
She is survived by her husband, Nels, of Peterson, two sons, Eric (Stacey) Jacobson of Wisconsin Rapids, WI and Michael Jacobson of Red Wing, MN, and one grandson, Cole. Her parents and two brothers preceded her in death.
A memorial service for Mrs. Jacobson was held Saturday, July 8, 2000, at Rushford Lutheran Church with the Rev. Roger Knudson and Rev. Ron Nowland officiating. Burial was in the Rushford Lutheran Cemetery. Hoff Funeral Homes - Cook Rushford Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
