Marie Rindels, 77, of Spring Valley died on Thursday, July 6, 2000.
She was born March 29, 1923 to Julius and Anna Flaskerud. She attended and graduated from Calmar, IA. High School and attended Minona, IA Business School. After attending business school she went to work for a Lutheran Church in Decorah, IA. She was united in marriage to Earl Hegtvedt November, 1944 in Cresco, IA. They were later divorced. She was remarried to Richard Rindels October, 28, 1967 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Spring Valley. Marie was a homemaker and also worked as a nursing assistant for Asse Haugon Home in Decorah and Community Memorial Hospital in Spring Valley. She was a Hospice volunteer and also was a volunteer for the school. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Spring Valley where she was very active in church functions. She was a wonderful cook and hostess and enjoyed fishing, traveling and doing crafts but her main interest was always her family.
Survivors include her husband, Richard of Spring Valley, MN; daughter Julie (Roger) Kulsrud of Lanesboro, MN; sons Edwin (Jean) Hegtvedt of Charles City, IA and Donald (Linda) Hegtvedt of Cedar Falls, IA; daughters Earlene (Gary) Nelson of Chattahoochee, FL and Mary (William) Allen of Minneapolis, MN; step-children Robert Rindels of Minneapolis, MN; Sheryl (James) Alberts of Fairbanks, IA; Paul (Coleen) Rindels of Altura, IA, LeRoy (Kathy) Rindels of Locust, IA and Nancy (William) Arndt of Stewartville, MN; 11 grand-children; 9 greatgrand-children; 14 step-grandchildren; and 12 step-great grandchildren. Three brothers Erick (Ann) Flaskerud of Decorah, IA, Laurence (Eileen) Flaskerud of Arizona, and Herman (Caroline) Flaskerud of Decorah, IA. Also one sister Dorothy (Orville) Halverson of Decorah, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson Bradley, one brother, Julius and one stepson Gene.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, July 9, 2000 at the Assembly of God Church in Spring Valley with Katherine’s son-in-law Pastor Gary Nelson officiating. Burial was in the Greenleafton Cemetery in Greenleafton. Hindt-Hutchins Funeral Home of Spring Valley was in charge of arrangements.
