Carolyn Meyer, age 58, died Monday afternoon, July 24, 2000 at her farm in rural Fillmore.
Carolyn Kay Christensen was born October 9, 1941, in Guthrie Center, IA, the daughter of Arthur and Lenore (Simmons) Christensen. She was raised in the Jefferson, IA area and moved to a farm in the LeRoy area with her family in the mid 1950’s. She married Norman Deal and the couple were later divorced. She married LuVerne Meyer December 24, 1989, in Wykoff and the couple made their home in Stewartville. She worked as a telephone operator for Answer Rochester, as a cook for Olmstead Community Hospital and at IBM Rochester assembling computer chips. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wykoff, a former member of the First Baptist Church in Stewartville, and was a member of the Rebekah Lodge of Rochester. She enjoyed gardening and spending time on the couple’s farm near Fillmore.
She is survived by her husband, LuVerne; a son, Jeffrey (Rebecca) Deal of Madison, WI; three grandchildren, Kristi, Brandon, and Ryan; her father, Arthur Christensen of Guthrie Center, IA; a sister, Charlotte (Barr) Spellman of Mequon, WI; and one brother, Allen Christensen of Des Moines, IA. She was preceded in death by her mother and a sister, Jeanine.
The funeral for Mrs. Meyer was held Thursday, July 27, 2000 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wykoff with Rev. Robert Burmeister officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Thauwald Funeral Home in Spring Valley was in charge of arrangements.
