Habbe G. Haase

Habbe Haase, 78, of rural Spring Valley, a retired farmer, died Saturday, July 29, 2000, at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.
He was born Oct. 22, 1921, in rural Carroll County Iowa, lived in South Dakota for a short time and as a young man worked on the family farm in Carroll County. From 1942 to 1945, he served in the Army with duty in Germany and was a participant in the Battle of Normandy, France. After his discharge he farmed in Iowa until moving to Hayfield in 19. On Feb. 14, 19, he married Isabelle Arlene Bybee in Hayfield. The couple farmed near Hayfield until his retirement in 1983. During retirement, they made their home in Frankford Township, Mower County. Mr. Haase was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hayfield.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Patricia J. Haase of Rochester, Bonita (Steve) Thompson of Clearbrook, Minn., and Shirley (Dean) Steffen of Butler, Tenn.; four grandchildren; and a sister, Dena (Harold) Filmer of Lake City. Two brothers preceded him in death.
The funeral for Habbe G. Haase was held Thursday at Vine Funeral Home in Rochester. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield.
