Frank Bailey, 80, of rural Chatfield, a retired farmer, died Wednesday, August 2, 2000, at his home.
He was born Nov. 24, 1919, in rural Chatfield, Fillmore County, and grew up there. On April 27, 1940, he married Dorothy Schroeder in Wykoff. He had lived on a farm in Olmsted County the past 46 years. Mr. Bailey was a member of the Farm Bureau and Chatfield United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Steve (Phyllis) of Hutchinson, MN., and Dennis (Jane) of Pine Island; four daughters, Laurel (William) Johnson of Green Oaks, IL, Kathi (Thomas) Farrell of Littleton, CO, Nanette Bailey of Rochester and Christine Bailey of Columbia Heights, MN; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Hubert (Eva) of Garden Valley, ID, and Robert (Shirley) of Kettle Falls, WA; and five sisters, Viola Austin of Gardenia, CA, Delores Summers of Paradise, CA, Ruby (Gordon) Auclair of West Hills, CA, Darlene Helgerson of Wabasha and Jean Frye of Ruidoso, NM. A daughter and three brothers preceded him in death.
The funeral for Frank Lester Bailey was held Tuesday, August 8, 2000, at the United Methodist Church in Chatfield, with the Rev. Dennis Cox-Townsend officiating. Burial was in Chatfield Cemetery. Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield was in charge of arrangements.
