Ken Beckman, 60, of rural Houston died Saturday, August 26, 2000 at Gunderson Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, WI, due to injuries received from multiple bee stings.

Mr. Beckman was born May 4, 1940, in Dodge County. He grew up in the Kasson area and graduated from Kasson-Mantorville High School in 1958. He worked for the 7-Up Bottling Co. and then worked for 25 years for Old Dutch Foods Inc. For the past six years he worked for Forney Industries. At the time of his death, he and his wife owned Apple Blossom Cleaners and Laundromat in La Crescent. He was certified as a pilot, scuba diver and firearms safety instructor. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, entertaining, golf, horseback riding and working with his hands.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret; two sons, Kevin (Kathy) Beckman of Rochester and Keith Beckman of Kasson; a daughter, Carla (Craig) Beckman-Hill of Chatfield; two stepsons, Bob (Tami) Arbuckle of Hayfield and Joe Arbuckle of La Crescent; a stepdaughter, Vicki (Mike) Wente of Menomonie, WI; two great-grandchildren; his mother, Margaret Beckman of Kasson, and two sisters, Sandy (Dave) Brakke of rural Byron and Vickie (Charles) Harris of Hudson, WI. He was preceded in death by his father.

A funeral for Mr. Beckman was held Thursday, August 31, 2000 at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston, with the Revs. Lane Zaffke and Curtis Johnson officiating. Burial was in Money Creek Cemetery. Hoff Funeral Homes-Cook Houston Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
