Jerry Henze, 68, of Rushford, died Friday, September 8, 2000, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford.

He was born on August 19, 1932, to Earl and Julia (Swenside) Henze. Jerry attended school in Rushford and graduated from Rushford High School in 1950 where he lettered in football and was an Eagle Scout. From 1946 to 1952, he was a meat cutter and processor at Buy-Rite Meat Market in Rushford. He then spent a year working at Convair Aircraft in San Diego, CA. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955, spending most of his time in Germany. After returning he worked as a spot welder at a sheet metal company in Minneapolis. In 1956, he enrolled in Northwestern School of Electronics and, after completion in 1958, worked for Remington Rand Univac Company. He traveled around the U.S. and spent several months in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil installing and instructing the use of computers. In 1961, Jerry returned to Rushford where he went into business with Dick Lee. Together they ran a TV and radio sales and service business. Jerry retired in May of 1998. He was a member of the Murphy-Johnson American Legion Post in Rushford for 45 years.

He is survived by three sisters: Joyce (Duane) Dorfner of Coon Rapids, MN, Maureen Delamater of Martin, GA, and Sharyn Henze of Minneapolis; one brother Bob (Jo Ellen Reed) Henze of Chicago, IL; two nieces, four nephews, three grand-nieces, and four grand nephews.

The funeral service for Mr. Henze was held Friday, September 15, 2000 at the Rushford Lutheran Church. Burial was in the Rushford Lutheran Cemetery. Hoff Funeral Homes-Cook Rushford Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
