The first pioneers pole-boated up the Root River to the junction of Rush Creek, peered through 10-foot tall grasses, and learned what Indians already knew - this was astonishing beauty. On Christmas Eve 1854, the first four families gathered and named it Rushford.

Come and enjoy our four-seasons setting in the hardwood forest, with full traveler services. Rushford has plenty of lodging, restaurants, recreation and a growing mix of shops with the tourist in mind.

Historical and recreation sights are many.
o The historic 1867 Rushford Depot Museum serves as the center for the Root River Bike Trail, one of the state's finest and most scenic for hiking, biking, skiing.
o Visit the restored 1890 one-room "Grinde" school house and the 1867 Episcopal Church. Other historic sites include the flour mill and 1919 jail house.
o Magelssen Bluff Park provides a spectacular view of the city and valley below.
o Creekside Park provides plenty of picnic shelter space, creative children's playground, tennis courts, ball fields and walking paths.
o The new Rushford Aquatic Center provides hours of fun for the entire family with a drop slide and a "raindrop".
o If you enjoy golf, Ferndale Country Club boasts one of the finest nine-hole courses in the area.

Rushford is proud of its history, is planning for its future and is surrounded by the beauty of our bluffs, rivers and streams. We're very hospitable in Rushford and you're very welcome. Visit Rushford - we have "sights to share."
