Mildred S. Livingood, 94, formerly of Canton, died Tuesday, September 19, 2000 at Samaritan Bethany Home in Rochester.

Mildred S. Johnson was born March 31, 1906 at Amherst, Fillmore County, grew up and attended school in Fillmore County. In 1927 she married Kenneth Livingood in Postville, IA. They were later divorced. The couple lived in the Postville area for 15 years, then in Canton for 18 years, then she lived in the San Francisco, CA area for 25 years where she worked in Home Health Care Services before retiring in 1973. She moved to Rochester in 1981. She was a member of the Newburg Methodist Church, the Home League Ladies Group of the Salvation Army, the Scandinavian Club of Rochester, the Boys and Girls Club of San Francisco and a volunteer at the Senior Citizens Center.

Survivors include four daughters, Donna Geerdes of Rochester; June Livingood of Sonoma, CA; Mavis (Carleton) Vine of St. Cloud, FL; and Mary Virgilito of Red Wing; four sons Robert of Preston; Milton (Marlys) of Rochester; Paul (Jan) of Ripon, WI; and Garland of Waterville, MN; her sister Ruth McCallson of Caledonia; 26 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters, a son, one grandson, one great-granddaughter, one sister, and five brothers.

The funeral for Mildred S. Livingood was held on Saturday, September 23 at Newburg Methodist Church in Newburg, with the Rev. David Leachel officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Vine Funeral Home of Rochester was in charge of arrangements.
