Darrell Horsman, 84, of Chatfield died Monday, October 9, 2000, in Chosen Valley Care Center where he had resided for four years.

He was born Aug. 20, 1916, in rural Spring Valley. He married Edith Holets in August 1935; she died October 6, 1961. He married Luella Jacobson on September 25, 1970, in Chatfield; she died November 18, 1992. He lived in the Chatfield area since 1940, farming and doing custom combining. He was an iron mine worker and worked for Olstad Implement Co. in Chatfield. He was also a Chatfield school bus driver.

Survivors include one son, Dale (Kris) of Chatfield; three daughters, Patricia (Thomas) Hanson of Chatfield, and Nancy (Jerry) Schultz and Dixie Ploetz, both of St. Charles; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Wesley and Hartley, both of Chatfield. He was also preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

The funeral for Mr. Horsman, was held Thursday, October 5, 2000, in Chatfield United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dennis Cox-Townsend officiating. Burial was in Washington Cemetery in rural Spring Valley. Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield was in charge of arrangements.
