Margareta Kvam, 71, of Spring Valley, died Wednesday, October 25, 2000, at Rochester Methodist Hospital.

Margareta Zinnecke was born October 8, 1929, in Karlsruhe, Germany. She grew up in Germany and married Kenneth Kvam on Aug. 25, 1951, while he was stationed in Karlsruhe. The couple lived in the Spring Valley area since 1952. A member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church, she worked at Libby McNeill and Libby in Rochester and Don's (formerly Squeaks) IGA in Spring Valley. She enjoyed swimming and playing piano.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Ricardo (Arlette) of Spring Valley; two daughters, Kim (Raalen) Brown of Spring Valley and Krista (Jared) Firl of Rochester; 11 grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth (Werner) Bauer of Karlsruhe.

A funeral Mass for Mrs. Kvam was held Saturday, October 28, 2000 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Spring Valley, with the Rev. Russell Scepaniak officiating. Burial was in Catholic Cemetery in Spring Valley. Hindt-Hutchins Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
