Alice Jestness Foster

Alice Jestness Foster, 84, of Rochester, formerly of Preston, died Sunday, October 29, 2000 at Seasons Hospice in Rochester after a short illness with pancreatic cancer.

Alice Hanson was born on November 19, 1915 in Lanesboro, the daughter of Nels and Ida (Torgerson) Hanson. She attended country school near Lanesboro and lived there until 1930 when her family moved to Preston. She married Clarence Jestness on November 2, 1933 in Lanesboro. Clarence died June 10, 1957. Alice worked at several restaurants in Preston and also at the Green Drug Store in Preston. In 1964 she married Harold Foster, and he died in 1965. In 1989 Alice moved to Rochester.

Alice is survived by one son Nathan (Lorraine) Jestness of Rochester. Three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren. two step-great-grandchildren, and one sister. She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, November 2, 2000 at Christ Lutheran Church in Preston with the Revs. James Rushton and Bernard Daiker officiating. Burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery in Preston. Thauwald Funeral Home, Preston, was in charge of arrangements.
