Vilda Flattum, 80, of Lanesboro, a homemaker, died Sunday, October 29, 2000, at the emergency room of Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Vilda G. Blagsvedt was born December 17, 1919, in rural Lanesboro, Amherst Township, Fillmore County. On September 21, 1940, she married Victor Flattum at the Highland Prairie Lutheran Church parsonage in rural Peterson. Her husband farmed and worked at the state fish hatchery in Lanesboro. They lived in rural Lanesboro until moving into town in 1984. She was a member of Elstad Lutheran Church and its WELCA, Mary Circle and choir.

Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Sharon (Robert) Knutson of Lanesboro, Deborah (Dennis) Jones of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Sandra (Mark) Everson of Rochester; a son, Loren (Connie) St. Paul; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Calma (Russell) Hanson of Lanesboro and Alpha Berland of Whalan. An infant sister preceded her in death.

The funeral for Mrs. Flattum was held Wednesday, November 1, 2000, at Elstad Lutheran Church in rural Lanesboro with the Rev. Rodney Nygren officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Johnson-Riley Funeral Home in Lanesboro was in charge of arrangements.
