Judge George O. Murray

Judge George O. Murray, 94, of Minnetonka, formerly of Preston, died Wednesday, November 15, 2000.

Judge Murray was born October 22, 1906 in Norway, MI. He graduated from Norway High School and attended the University of Michigan. He graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School, class of 1932. He was employed by the government and was a claims attorney for the Northern Pacific Railway. In 1946, he associated with F.J. OBrien in the practice of law in Preston. He was appointed Judge in 1954 and served Fillmore County until his retirement in 1976. He was admitted before the U.S. Supreme Court, was a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association, American Bar Association, and the Minnesota Alumni Association. He was past president of the the State Juvenile Judges Association. In Preston, he was a member of the Preston School Board, Preston Lions Club, Golf Club, and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret, of 65 years; son William G. (Sue) of Laguna Niguel, CA; daughter Kathleen Pratt (William) of Minnetonka; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

The funeral for Judge Murray was held at the Church of St. Bartholomew on Saturday, November 18. Burial was in Norway, MI.
