Don McElmury, 66 of Rushford, died Thursday, November 23, 2000 at his home after a lengthy illness.

He was born to James & Geneva (Johnson) on October 12, 1934. He attended Rushford High School. After high school, he served in the 82nd Airborn of the Army as a Paratrooper from 1953-1956. He married Yvonne Bergeron October 11, 1958. He worked for Tri-County Electric for 17 years and also farmed for several years. He started DM Construction in 1984 and retired this last year due to illness.

He is survived by his wife Yvonne, of 42 yrs, two daughters, Kim (Pete) Schwab of Winona and Karen (Karl) Ash of MS, three granddaughters, Katie LaFleur, Hannah Schwab, and Emma Ash, a sister Ethel (Wilton) Bunke of Rushford, and a brother Lyle (Bonnie) McElmury of St. Paul, MN. He was preceded in death by his mother and father.

A memorial service was held Monday, November 27,2000 at Rushford Lutheran Church, Rushford. Hoff Funeral Homes-Cook, Rushford Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
