Boyd R. Brown

Boyd Brown, 90, of Loveland, CO, formerly of Chatfield, died November 15, 2000, at Alterra Sterling House in Loveland.

He was born April 28, 1910, in Chatfield and graduated from Chatfield High School in 1929. On October 19, 1932, he married Beth Irene Marshall in Preston. They moved to Loveland from Chatfield in 1953 and owned and operated Brown's Corner from 1954 to 1960. They later built Brown's Gun and Tackle near Loveland and operated the business from 1962 until their retirement in 1977. His wife died April 8, 1995. Mr. Brown was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed hunting and fishing in the mountains of Colorado and writing poetry. He helped sponsor many needy families at Christmas.

Survivors include a brother, Warren (Gin) of Omaha, NE. A brother and a sister preceded him in death.

An interment service for Mr. Brown was held Saturday, November 25, 2000, in the Chatfield Cemetery, with the Rev. John Sime officiating. Services were conducted Monday at Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home in Loveland, CO, with the Rev. Tim Kemnitz of Shepherd of the Hills Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greeley, CO, officiating. The body was cremated. Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield is in charge of local arrangements.
