Orrin Klungtvedt, 77, of Rushford, died Friday, December 1, 2000, at his home.

He was born May 14, 1923, in Rushford, grew up in the Rushford area and graduated from Rushford High School in 1942. He served in the Army during World War II and graduated from Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis. He married Eleanor Johnson on June 20, 1953, at Highland Prairie Lutheran Church. He owned and operated the O.K. Fix It shop in Rushford. In 1964, he relocated his shop to Lanesboro and ran it there until 1991. He also taught welding classes at the Winona Vocational School. He then retired to Peterson until December 1999 when he and his wife moved to Rushford. He was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Peterson, Sons of Norway in Lanesboro, the Peterson American Legion and other community organizations. He was also an inventor, musician and blacksmith.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Kevin (Debra) of Rushford and Kerry of Rochester; two grandchildren; two brothers, Alton and Harvey (Betty), both of Rushford; and one sister, Verna Shaddrick of Shorewood, MN.

The funeral for Orrin C. Klungtvedt was held Tuesday, December 5, 2000, at Grace Lutheran Church in Peterson, with the Rev. Roger Michaelson officiating. Burial was in Highland Prairie Lutheran Cemetery in rural Peterson. Hoff Funeral Homes -- Cook Rushford Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
