Agnes Irene King

Agnes King, 85, a former longtime Spring Valley resident, died Sunday, December 3, 2000, at the Ostrander Nursing Home where she had lived six years.

Agnes Irene Tvedt was born October 22, 1915, in rural Kasson, later moved into Kasson with her mother and graduated from Kasson High School in 1933. On May 18, 1940, she married Herbert M. King of Racine in Kasson. He died in March 1966. Mrs. King was a waitress and cook, and after her retirement was active in volunteer work. She was a member of First English Lutheran Church and the Jolly Dozen Kitchen Band, which played in nursing homes and for local celebrations, and was active in RSVP.

Survivors include four sons, Mark "Robert" of San Francisco, Darrell of Bellevue, NE, Dave of Ashland, NE, and Donald of Rochester; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A son and two brothers also preceded her in death.

The funeral for Mrs. King was held Wednesday, December 6, 2000, at First English Lutheran Church in Spring Valley, with the Rev. Robert Burmeister officiating. Burial was in Hamilton Cemetery in Sumner Township, Fillmore County. Hindt-Hutchins Funeral Home in Spring Valley was in charge of arrangements.
