The Lanesboro Arts Center is pleased to present the Galactic Cowboy Orchestra at the St. Mane Theatre in Lanesboro, Minn., on Friday, Sept. 24 at 7:30 p.m. The Galactic Cowboy Orchestra is a unique and powerful musical ensemble that fuses an eclectic mix of original and traditional bluegrass-edged tunes with jazz and world/fusion elements. Their music is Chick Corea meets The Dixie Dregs meets A Prairie Home Companion. The mix ranges from highly accessible bluegrass tunes to extreme arrangements of East Indian ragas with a little country, jazz, swing and folk thrown in. GCO's instrumentation includes guitar, fiddle, bass and drums - they are loved by audiences of all ages! A sample of GCO's music can be found at http://galacticcowboyorchestra.com/media.html

The band boasts a talented group of musicians: On guitar, Dan Neale is one of the Twin Cities' most adored pickers; he has played with Bo Diddley and Martin Zellar, and is a semi-regular on Garrison Keillor's "A Prairie Home Companion." Lisi Wright plays the fiddle in genres spanning from classical, country, bluegrass and rock, and at age 25 she has already played with Mick Sterling and Martin Zellar. John Wright is on bass (of the Celtic/American folk-rock duo Lehto & Wright,), with a background in music styles including blues, fusion, pop Latin and rock. On drums/percussion is Mark O'Day, a graduate of the world renowned Musicians Institute of Technology in Hollywood, Calif.; He has been on numerous European tours with Minneapolis blues legend Willy Murphy. The band has received enthusiastic reception at performance venues: "Musically inventive and sonically charged, the Galactic Cowboy Orchestra transported the audience to a new artistic plane. What energy! What joy! What a terrific show!" says Steve Schmidt, general manager of the city of Rochester Music Dept.

There is a cost for tickets for the Galactic Cowboy Orchestra concert. Tickets are available in advance at the Arts Center galleries at 103 Parkway Ave N in Lanesboro (open Mon-Thurs 10-5, Fri-Sat 10-7, and Sun 11-3), and at the door one hour prior to the performance at the St. Mane Theatre, 206 Parkway Ave N in Lanesboro.
