Mathew Anthony Pavlisich, 64, of Grand Meadow died Tuesday, December 19, 2000, at his home. He was the owner of Matts Body Shop in Spring Valley for 39 years.

Mathew Pavlisich was born December 14, 1936 in Ely, MN to Anton Pavlisich and Stephanie Peschel. He graduated from Ely High School and attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis. He was united in marriage to Genevieve Hadoff on September 29, 1959, they were later divorced. He was later united in marriage to Betty Jensen on June 3, 1979 in Spring Valley. Matt started Matts Body Shop in 1961. He was a member of the Spring Valley Kiwanis Club and was a history buff.

He is survived by his wife Betty of Grand Meadow; a son, Tony of Spring Valley; and a daughter. Diana (Steve) Johnson of Mankato; also two step-children, James Smetzer of Round Rock, TX,and Ross Smetzer of Valley Springs, CA; three grandchildren; one sister, Joni (Ronnie) Skansgaard of Ely. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services for Mathew A. Pavlisich were held on Friday, December 22, 2000, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Spring Valley. Burial will be in the Spring Valley Cemetery.

Hindt-Hutchins Funeral Home of Spring Valley were in charge of arrangements.
