Gerald Leighty, 84, of Lime Springs, a former farmer and Winnebago employee, died Monday December 18, 2000 at Evans Memorial Home in Cresco, Iowa.

Born May 25, 1916, in Macomb, IL, he graduated from high school there. During World War II, he served in the Coast Guard. He was married on March 10, 1948. He farmed until 1972 and then worked at Winnebago until retiring in 1983. He had lived in Lime Springs since 1988.

Survivors include his wife, Anna Mae; a son, Eldon of Yale, OK.; three daughters, Elaine Weyers of Lime Springs, Janet Nelson of Blooming Prairie and Elisabeth Leighty of Carbondale, IL.; five grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a sister, Gloria Baumgartner of Blandinsville, lL.

The funeral for Gerald Leighty was on Wednesday, December 20, 2000 at Bethany Bible Church in LeRoy. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb. Lindstrom Funeral Home in Lime Springs was in charge of arrangements.
