Norman Eggert, 70, of rural Rushford, a farmer and truck driver, died Thursday, December 21, 2000, at his home.

He was born Oct. 25, 1930, on the family farm in Hart Township, Winona County, and lived and farmed there all his life. On April 7, 1951, he married Eileen Hildestad in Whalan. In addition to farming, he was employed as a truck driver, most recently for Jim Peterson Trucking of Lewiston. Mr. Eggert was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hart and served on a number of church boards. He was a member of the Hart Township Board for more than 20 years and a member of the Winona County Township Officers Association. His interests included woodworking, fishing and camping.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Diane (Garry) Ronnenberg of Rushford, Donna (Wes) Bussell of Eyota and Marcia (Tim) Tews of Winona; a son, Bruce (Joy) of Winona; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Anita (Melvin) Brand and Lorraine (Virgil) Tweten, both of Rushford, and Elnora (Arlin) Hildestad of Rochester. An infant son preceded him in death.

The funeral for Mr. Eggert was held Saturday, December 23, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hart, with the Rev. Frederick Buth officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Hoff Funeral Homes-Cook Rushford Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
