Darlene Hulett

Darlene Hulett, 70, of Topeka, KS, formerly of Harmony, died December 27, 2000, at a Topeka hospital.

Darlene Mary McCabe was born April 19, 1930, in Cresco, IA, grew up in Harmony and graduated from Harmony High School, and received a nursing degree in Rochester. On November 24, 1951, she married Don W. Hulett in Hawaii. They lived in Beloit, KS, before retiring to Branson, MO, in 1985. Her husband died August 22, 1997. Mrs. Hulett had lived in Topeka since 1998. She was a former member of St. John's Catholic Church in Beloit and was active in its ladies guild, and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Beloit and Telephone Pioneers Auxiliary.

Survivors include two daughters, Susan K. LaBin and Kathy M. Collins, both of Topeka; two sons, Michael W. of Lawrence, KS., and Gilbert J. of Beloit; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four brothers, Charles McCabe of Lanesboro, Orvin McCabe of Atlanta, GA, Jim McCabe of Kirksville, MO, and Roger McCabe of Harmony; and five sisters, Alice McCabe of Seattle, WA, Rosella Peterson of Harmony, Grace Reicks of Bella Vista, AR, Donna Weber of Springfield, MO, and Marilyn Schorr of Lansing, IA. Two brothers also preceded her in death.

A funeral Mass for Mrs. Hulett was held January 2, 2001, at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Topeka, KS. A graveside service was conducted Wednesday, January 3, 2001, in Ozarks Memorial Park in Branson, MO.
