Patricia Haugland

Patricia Haugland, 73, formerly of Canton, a retired secretary, died Sunday, January 7, 2001, at her daughter's home near Waukon, IA.

Patricia Kimber was born June 22, 1927, in Decorah, graduated from high school and continued her education for another year. On November 14, 1947, she married Harry "Bud" Haugland. They farmed in North Dakota until the early 1960s and then south of Burr Oak until moving to Cresco where they operated the Wheel Inn Cafe. She later was a teacher's aide in Howard-Winneshiek County, Iowa, schools, a secretary for HECO in Harmony, and before her retirement in 1989 was a secretary-receptionist for Farm Credit Services in Lanesboro. She and her husband lived in Canton for 30 years. Mr. Haugland died May 27, 1999. Beginning in September 1999, she lived in senior citizen housing in Canton for a year and then moved to senior citizen housing in Decorah.

Survivors include a daughter, Sheri (Bob) Erickson of Waukon; a son, Gerald (Karolyn) of Thornton, IA; and six grandchildren.

The funeral for Mrs. Haugland was held Saturday, January 13, 2001, at Henrytown Lutheran Church in rural Canton. Burial was in the Burr Oak Cemetery. Lindstrom Funeral Home in Harmony was in charge of arrangements.
