Caramel-Apple Pie

1 can (11 oz.) condensed cheddar cheese soup
1/2 package (14 oz.) light brown caramels
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
6 cups thinly sliced peeled apples
1 unbaked 9 in. pie shell
melted butter

In saucepan, combine soup, carmels, brown sugar and ginger. Heat until carmels are melted, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, add eggs and almond extract. Cool.

In pie shell, arrange alternate layers of apples and sauce, ending with apples pour melted butter over. Bake at 350 one hour. May be served with cool whip or ice cream.
