Esther E. Steffensrud

Esther E. Steffensrud, 85, of rural Harmony, a longtime farm homemaker, died Tuesday, February 6, 2001 at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, Wis.

Esther E. Kiehne was born June 15, 1915, in Fillmore County, the daughter of Fredrick and Louise (Busse) Kiehne. She attended area rural schools. On June 15, 1937, she married Percy Steffensrud in Green Lake, Minn. They worked on the family's centennial farm in Fillmore County and she continued to live there until her death. Her husband died in 1986. Mrs. Steffensrud was an aide at Harmony Community Nursing Home for 17 years, was a volunteer driver for people in the community, and was a member of Greenfield Lutheran Church, where she was active in choir, Naomi Circle and WELCA. She also was a member of the Harmony Hospital Auxiliary and enjoyed playing cards.

Survivors include nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Three brothers also preceded her in death.

The funeral for Mrs. Steffensrud was held February 9, 2001 at Greenfield Lutheran Church in Harmony, with the Rev. John Hagen officiating. Burial was in Greenfield Cemetery. Lindstrom Funeral Home in Harmony was in charge of arrangements.
